Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Friday that the war-hit nation of Yemen is under the worst human conditions which are contrary to international rules and principles.
In remarks during a meeting with Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Zarif expressed hope that under achievements of the Iranian nuclear deal, the current crises in the region can terminate to a prudent solution.
’With regional consultations, the wise and logical approach of negotiations should be directed to adopting effective solutions based on the region’s realities,’ he said.
Speaking to reporters at the last moments of his visit to India on Friday, Zarif reiterated that there exists no military solution to the conflict in Yemen.
A Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States launched an aggression against Yemen in late March. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the UN.
The death toll of civilians has risen to at least 1,916, with another 4,186 civilians wounded since the escalation of the conflict in Yemen in March, according to the UN recently last week.
