Two special aircraft of the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) have repatriated Yemenis who were treated in Khoula Hospital. On the return flights from Sana’a, a new batch of Yemenis wounded in the unrest has been brought for treatment in Oman.
Oman’s support comes in continuation with the humanitarian efforts to deal with the situation in the neighboring country.
A recent study undertaken by Omani medical researchers has revealed that the country’s healthcare system is well-prepared to manage the effects of civil unrest in a neighboring country. The study highlighted the complexity of injuries created by modern civil unrest situations.
The study took a retrospective review of all civil victims sent from Yemen to Oman after the March 2015 Saudi-led airstrikes in two mosques of Sana’a that killed 137 people of whom 14 were children. The deadly attacks also wounded 357 people.
These patients constituted the first group of war victims treated at the National Trauma Centre of Khoula Hospital, according to the study.
