The US Defense Department admitted for the first time on Sunday that it had conducted multiple ground operations in Yemen, while US forces carried out 120 air strikes in the war-ravaged poor country.
"This revelation of an escalation on another front is part of the US military intervention as Saudi Arabia and its allies are waging a barbaric attack against this impoverished country for more than 1,000 days," the US-based Global Recreat said in a report.
"Many humanitarian aid agencies have confirmed the depth of the humanitarian crisis in the country this week with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) saying that the number of cholera cases in Yemen has reached one million, making it a deadly epidemic in the country. Yemenis now lack food, fuel, clean water and health care, creating the conditions for spreading the disease and not just the threat of famine."
"Ground interference and air strikes by the United States in Yemen claim, according to the Pentagon, that they are ostensibly targeting al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and are calling on Yemen and Sunni militias, which are the failed enemies of the Houthis," he said.
The report pointed out that "many victims of US operations are civilians killed in both air raids and ground operations by special operations on the ground, in January, killed special operations forces backed by drones and attack helicopters 57 people, at least 16 of them Of civilians, while killing one US soldier only.”
Washington has been waging a secret drone war against Yemen since 2002, and before this year the number of Yemenis killed in the air campaign has been estimated at about 1,500, according to the FBI.
