At the same time, Hadi forced a number of conservative regime members to resign.

In addition, he appointed three new provincial governors. Amin Ahmed Mahmoud was appointed the Governor of Taiz province, Maj. Gen. Ali Muqbel Saleh will govern the Dhale Governorate, and Brig. Gen. Ahmad Abdullah Al-Turki will now be Governor of Lahij.

Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict since 2015, with the regime of resigned President Hadi fighting against the Houthi revolutionaries, backed by army units loyal to former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Since March 2015, the Saudi-led coalition of mostly Persian Gulf Arab countries has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen under Hadi's request.
