Yemeni Forces Fire Another Ballistic Missile At Saudi Capital

Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement announced that its forces have fired a ballistic missile towards the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in retaliation for the ongoing bombardment.

Mohammed Abdulsalam, an Ansarullah spokesman, said the Burkan (Volcano) H-2 missile was fired towards al-Yamamah Palace, the official residence of King Salman.

Saudi media claim that the missile has been intercepted.

Reuters reporters, however, say they have heard a blast in Riyadh and seen a plume of smoke rising above the Saudi capital.

An AFP correspondent also heard a loud explosion at 1050 GMT, shortly before the scheduled unveiling of the Saudi budget, which is usually announced from Yamamah Palace by the king.

Saudi Arabia has been leading a destructive military campaign against Yemen since March 2015 to reinstate former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and crush the Houthi movement.

The campaign has devastated the country’s infrastructure killing tens of thousands including many women and children.
