Yemen Denies US Claim Missile at Riyadh Was Iranian

Yemen’s Houthi revolutionaries have directly rebutted U.S. assertions that a missile launched into Saudi Arabia earlier this month was manufactured by Iran.

Col. Aziz Rashed, a spokesman for the Houthi forces, said Sunday that the missile intercepted by the Saudis near the capital Riyadh on Nov. 4 was "Yemeni-produced." The U.S. contends that the ballistic missile was Iranian-made and remnants of it bore "Iranian markings."

A Saudi-led, U.S.-backed coalition allied with Yemen's resigned regime has been launching a military campaign against the impoverished Arab state since March 2015.

The coalition tightened its already existing blockade on Yemen after a missile, which was part of a retaliatory attack in response to the continued Saudi bombardment, was fired.
