Tehran Rejects Saudi Allegations Over Yemen Missile Strike

Tehran rejected allegations from Saudi Arabia that it was involved in a missile strike from Yemen that targeted Riyadh’s international airport.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi described the accusations as “destructive, irresponsible, provocative and baseless”.

On Monday, the Saudis claimed that the missile was manufactured by the Iranians and that the attack may be treated as “an act of war”.

Meanwhile, Ansarullah claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that the Burkan H2 ballistic missile was domestically produced.

The attack comes in retaliation to an ongoing Saudi-led military campaign against Yemen, which has been ongoing since March 2015 and claimed the lives of over 12,000 people.

A Saudi state-owned television channel reported that the missile was intercepted and brought down before reaching its target.

The US President, Donald Trump, immediately weighed in on the incident saying that he would support additional American military sales to the Saudis ‘to keep the kingdom safe’.
