Iran’s President, Sheikh Hassan Rouhani, stressed the urgency in need to end the Saudi-led military campaign against Yemen, during his meeting with Norway’s Prime Minister, Erna Solberg.
"Yemeni people are struggling with many problems, and it is necessary to stop the bombing of Yemen immediately and begin the negotiations to resolve the crisis. We believe that the European Union can also contribute in helping the refugees and politically solving Yemen's problems,” Sheikh Rouhani said during the Tuesday meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Saudi Arabia has been bombing Yemen since March 2015 to reinstate former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and crush the Houthi movement.
The campaign has devastated the country’s infrastructure killing over 12,000 Yemenis including many women and children.
