At least five civilians were killed when Saudi jets attacked a residential area in Yemen’s northwestern province of Hajjah.
According to Yemen’s al-Masirah television network, many were also injured in the bombing, which struck a residential building in the village of al-Sadat.
Later in the day, Yemeni army soldiers, backed by allied fighters from Popular Committees, thwarted an infiltration attempt by Saudi-sponsored mercenaries into the Wadi al-Safra region in the Yemeni province of Shabwah.
Saudi Arabia has been leading a destructive military campaign against Yemen since March 2015 to reinstate former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and crush the Houthi movement.
The campaign has devastated the country’s infrastructure. Local Yemeni sources have put the death toll at over 12,000, including many women and children.
