The World Health Organization announced Sunday that the number of cholera victims in Yemen reached 1,784 since the outbreak of the epidemic on 27 April, the Anadolu Agency reported.
In a report, WHO said 14 people were killed this weekend alone with the number of those suspected to be infected with the illness has reached 338,969.
Twenty-one of Yemen’s 22 governorates have been infected by the deadly disease.
International organizations have increased their support and sent medical supplies to the country in order to tackle the widespread pandemic.
For about three years, Yemen, the Arab world’s poorest country, has suffered from by a bloody war between the Houthi revolutionaries and supporters of the resigned regime of Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
As a result of this war, thousands have been killed and tens of thousands have been displaced, hospitals, schools and many of the public service facilities have been destroyed.
