One Wounded in Missile Attack on UAE Ship off Yemen Coast

Saudi state news agency SPA cited a Saudi-led coalition official on Thursday that the Yemeni army backed by the Houthi Ansarullah revolutionaries launched a retaliatory attack that resulted in hitting a United Arab Emirates ship off the coast of Yemen, wounding one crew member.

The ship was attacked upon its departure from the Yemeni port of Al-Mokha, SPA said. The Red Sea port of Al-Mokha is close to the Bab al-Mandab shipping lane through which much of the world's oil passes.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
