The artillery and missile shelling of the Yemeni army and popular forces hit groups of Saudi soldiers in military sites in Najran, Asir and Jizan provinces, a military official told the state-run news agency Saba on Monday.

In Najran province, the missile units of the allied forces targeted the soldiers' positions in military sites of Al Fawaz, behind Al Shabakah, Raqabat Al Homer, Al Talah, northern Al Shabakah and Al Makhruqa.

Also, in Jizan province, the artillery of the army shelled military sites of Al Qarn, Al Kirs, Al Abadaih and Walan camp. A Saudi military vehicle was destroyed in Al Khashal site.

In Asir province, the missile forces hit military gatherings in Al Hajr camp, the official added.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
