Yemen’s Speaker of Parliament Yahya Ali al-Raiee met with the Iranian chargé d'affaires Mohammed Farhat in a bid to expand the level of cooperating between the two states.
Praising the historical and bilateral relationship, Al-Raiee highlighted the need to further the exchanges in the fields of trade, health and the economy.
Farhat echoed a similar sentiment vowing to enhance the bilateral relationship between Sanaa and Tehran.
Iran has been one of the most vocal opponents of the deadly Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen, calling for an end to the bombardment and a negotiated political settlement.
But those calls have thus far fallen on deaf ears. The Saudi bombing has killed over 12,000 people since March 2015 while its blockade starves the Yemeni population.
