Reinforcements Deployed from Sanaa to Yemen’s Western Coast

A number of armed factions have reportedly departed from the Yemeni capital Sanaa to assist in the fight for the country’s western coastline.

The Yemeni army and popular committees are reinforcing their positions in and around the port of Hodeida to deter a possible Saudi-backed attack on the strategic area.

The deployment comes amid growing concerns over reports that Riyadh and Washington are mulling a possible push on the port, which aid agencies say would be “catastrophic” for the civilian population.

Hodeida serves as the gateway for some 80% of desperately needed emergency aid.
