Ibb University Condemns Saudi Airstrikes Against Faculty of Medicine

The Ibb University strongly condemned the targeting of the Faculty of Medicine by the US-backed Saudi aggression warplanes, the university said in a statement on Wednesday.

"It is the second time the Saudi-American warplanes targeting the faculty, which clearly indicates the arrogance and malice of the Saudi-led aggression that aims to destroy the educational infrastructure of the Yemeni people," the statement read.

The university called on the United Nations as well as local and international humanitarian organizations to prevent the targeting of educational facilities by the Saudi-led coalition fighter jets and preserve the educational infrastructure of the Yemeni people.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
