Low Temperatures Grip War-Torn Yemen

Local Editor

An unprecedented wave of frost has swept across a number of provinces in northern Yemen.

Meanwhile heavy snow covered the mountains of the Directorate of Bani Matar west of the capital Sanaa. The snowfall was most intense in the provinces of Dhamar and Sana’a.

A number of provinces endured a significant drop in temperatures, especially in the capital Sanaa, where the thermometer reached only 2 degrees.

In the province of Dhamar, south of the capital, which is often colder because of the altitude, the low temperature on Saturday also dropped 2 degrees.

The unusually low temperatures have made the already horrific living conditions in the war-torn country even more difficult.

The Saudi-led coalition has been bombing Yemen for over 600 days, killing thousands of civilians and creating a humanitarian catastrophe.
