In retaliation to the ongoing bombardment the Yemeni army and popular committee forces, which include the Houthi Ansarullah movement, have launched attacks against Saudi military installations.
According to Yemeni military officials, heavy shelling was unleashed against the kingdom’s southern Najran province striking the al-Aish and Rakabaht al-Fawaz posts.
The al-Tawal, al-Mawsam and al-Kanbur military installations in the neighboring Jizan province were also targeted.
Artillery and missiles reportedly rained down on Jizan killing dozens of fighters loyal to Riyadh.
The retaliatory attacks have become more frequent in recent months marking a major setback for the Saudi-led coalition, which was hoping to subdue resistance in Yemen. Instead Yemeni fighters have crossed deep into Saudi territory, capturing bases and killing scores of soldiers.
