Failure to Issue UN Resolution to Stop Aggression, Disregard for Yemeni Blood

The President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council Saleh Al-Sammad said that the international community not issuing a UN resolution for a comprehensive and permanent end of the aggression on Yemen is a disregard of the Yemeni blood and a justification of the crimes of the Saudi regime.

In a statement on Friday, Al-Sammad said "The failure of the international community to issue a UN resolution for a comprehensive and permanent end of the aggression on Yemen and the failure to investigate crimes against Yemenis due to Saudi pressures is considered a disregard to the Yemeni blood and a justification for the crimes of the Saudi regime."

He added that "This also allows the Saudi regime to keep on its aggression."

The SPC president noted that "The claimed ceasefire by the UN envoy comes as an international cover for the Saudi crimes," adding that this disregard only opens for Riyadh a new phase of escalation, the same way it happened in the previous rounds.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
