The Saudi Coalition launched several airstrikes against northern Yemen on Wednesday night, targeting the densely populated provinces of Sana’a, Saada, and Hajjah.

According to the Yemeni Republican Guard’s official media wing, the Saudi Air Force struck the Yemeni capital at least 6 times, killing and wounding several civilians in the process.

In addition to the airstrikes over Sana’a city, the Saudi jets targeted the Al-Delmi Base north of the capital and the Shahra District.

The Saudi Air Force also destroyed the Wadi Burkan Bridge in Sa’ada city, the Republican Guard added.

The airstrikes come just before a UN-brokered 72-hour ceasefire is to take effect.

It is the sixth attempt to end the bloodshed since a Saudi-led Arab campaign launched a war on Yemen in March 2015 to support the government of President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
