Yemen’s army spokesman Brigadier General Sharaf Luqman stressed that all military operations carried out by the national army and the popular committees are purely defensive.
In remarks published by Sabaa news agency, Luqman said the Yemeni army and the popular committees are committed by high moral values while confronting the Saudi-led coalition that has been since March 2015 launching a brutal aggression against the Arab impoverished country.
The Yemeni army and the popular committees do not target civilians as well as the international navigation, the Yemeni general said.
"All what have been circulated about the Emirati vessel is false and comes as a part of a propaganda campaign carried out by the Saudi-led coalition."
Luqman meanwhile, stressed that the Yemeni navy targeted the Emirati vessel on October 1 after making sure it was a military vessel which takes part in the Saudi-led aggression Yemen.
The Yemeni navy struck with rockets and completely destroyed on Saturday an Emirati military vessel in Bab al-Mandeb strait.
Luqman noted that Saturday’s strike came after accurate surveillance, and that the Yemeni navy hit the Emirati vessel after entering Yemeni territorial waters.
