Yemen’s Supreme Political Council ratified an implementation mechanism to carry out a general amnesty, forming a main presidential committee based in the capital Sana’a to oversee the process.
The resolution was issued in a meeting presided by president Saleh al-Sammad and published by the official gazette on Wednesday. The approval was based on the presidential decree No. 15 for the year 2016.
The meeting also approved full authorities to the newly formed main committee of granting amnesty, including setting up subsidiary committees throughout the country’s provinces.
One of the main committee’s tasks is to publish all the applicants’ names for the general amnesty in the official gazette.
