Russia’s Foreign Ministry said Moscow hopes that talks in Geneva slated for June 14 on the crisis in Yemen will spur political dialogue in the country, as it wrote on its website on Tuesday.
The ministry’s website read: "We expect that the meeting in Geneva will open the path to launch a true inclusive dialogue among the Yemenis themselves that is orientated toward reaching a solid settlement in the country".
The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that it supports the UN initiative on holding such a meeting and understands the event "must be held with the participation of all Yemeni parties and without any preliminary conditions."
According to the statement, the immediate priority of the Geneva talks is to ensure the establishment of long-term humanitarian pauses in Yemen. The main aim is to bring the conflict to an end as quickly as possible.
