One Saudi militiaman was killed on Tuesday in an improvised explosive device blast in a military camp in Mareb province, a local official said.
The explosive device exploded when the militants were gathering to receive a Saudi allowance in Mareb city, the official said, adding that 25 other people were injured.
Mareb has been experiencing insecurity since the Saudi-backed Hadi loyalists took control of the province.
It has been referred to as "the Al Qaeda capital of Yemen".
Exploiting a persistent security vacuum and the absence of effective state institutions, AQAP is in the process of asserting itself as the dominant actor across much of southern Yemen.
The terror organization is successfully exploiting the turmoil of the war to make significant territorial gains.
