Houthi Forces Capture Saudi Border Points

The Houthi Ansarullah forces, backed by the Yemeni Republican Guard, seized a number of points inside the Midi Desert near the Saudi-Yemeni border Monday, advancing as far north as the Jizan Region of Saudi Arabia.

According to Al-Masdar’s Yemen War correspondent, Tony Toh, the Houthi forces and their allies killed 41 fighters from the Saudi-led Coalition after seizing a number of sites from the latter.

Making matters worse for the Saudi-led Coalition, the Houthi forces continued their advance in the Najran Valley, as they captured new points near the provincial capital.

The Saudi-led Coalition’s recent losses in the Jizan and Najran regions has taken a toll on their morale, as they struggle to beat back the anti-government forces invading the southern part of their country.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 10,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
