Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi received Yemeni national delegation in Baghdad as he hailed forming a supreme political council in Sana’a.

Forming the political council is an important step and in the right direction, Abadi told the Yemeni delegation, which represents the Houthi Ansarullah revolutionaries and other allies.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi premier praised the Yemeni people who took to the streets in millions despite the Saudi-led strikes, stressing Iraq’s solidarity with the Yemeni people.

Abadi also condemned the Saudi-led aggression against Yemen saying that the attack on the impoverished Arab country is unjustified.

On the other hand, Abadi said that he had repeatedly told the international community that Yemen doesn’t pose a threat to the world and that the real threat is represented by the ISIS and as al-Qaeda Takfiri insurgents.

"You have triumphed ethically," Abadi told the Yemeni delegation, urging its members to go ahead with a political dialogue in a bid to show the world their rightfulness.

Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.

Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to fugitive ex-president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
