The Houthi Ansarullah forces, backed by the Yemeni Republican Guard and Saleh loyalists, reportedly captured Jabal Jalis inside the Lahj Governorate on Tuesday after a violent battle with the Saudi-led Coalition in southern Yemen.

According to Al-Masirah TV, the allied forces captured Jabal Jalis after an intense three-day battle.

The capture of Jabal Jalis has positioned the Houthi forces within striking distance of the strategic Al-Anad Military Airport, which is currently under the control of the Saudi aggression forces.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 9,400 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
