The UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad met with representatives of the Houthi Ansarullah movement and General People’s Congress (GPC) to discuss main topics in the UN-sponsored Yemeni peace talks held in Kuwait.
The meeting, held on Monday, discussed the two sides’ views on resuming political dialogue, applying the articles of signed agreements, releasing prisoners, arms embargo and withdrawal of armed forces.
The UN envoy is also set to meet with the Saudi-backed Hadi delegation later in the day to discuss the same issues.
Meanwhile, warring Yemeni parties will meet on Tuesday to discuss the lists of prisoners’ names received by the UN yesterday, in preparation to release the detainees in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
