"The Houthi delegation is in Saudi Arabia and the discussions are ongoing," Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said on Monday.
The negotiations, he alleged, were being held "with the aim of finding a political solution for the Yemen crisis."
"I believe we have made good progress," Jubeir claimed.
Yemen has been the target of incessant Saudi military strikes for more than a year. Nearly 9,400 Yemenis have lost their lives since last March.
Saudi Arabia has been pounding Yemen, the Arab world’s poorest country, for more than a year to undermine the Houthi movement and reinstate fugitive former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. The Saudi military campaign has occasioned outspoken criticism from major international rights groups.
The Houthis and members of Hadi’s regime held crisis resolution talks in the Swiss city of Biel last December. The first day of the talks on December 15 coincided with the implementation of a UN-brokered truce.
The ceasefire was, however, violated - mainly by Saudi Arabia - and the negotiations ended with nothing more than an agreement on prisoner exchanges. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the UN special envoy for Yemen, subsequently failed to broker fresh talks between the Houthis and the former regime.
