At least 30 US-backed Saudi forces were killed in clashes in the Dabab area on Saturday.
According to Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah news website, heavy clashes erupted between the Yemeni army and the popular committees backed by the Houthi Ansarullah movement on the one hand and the Saudi-led coalition forces and AlQaeda militias on the other.
At least 30 people including forces from the 35th war brigade were killed in the fighting.
Saudi Arabia began a deadly air and ground assault against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
About 8,300 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
