The Yemeni security agencies and People’s Committees Saturday afternoon disarmed an explosive device.
The explosives were placed in the car of Colonel Abdul Samad Mohamed El-Moutawakel, the General Director of Criminal Investigation in the capital Sana’a.
A security official told Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah news website that the investigation teams discovered device planted in El-Moutawakel’s car parked in front of Justice Department.
The area was cordoned off and a specialized engineering team was called to the site to dismantle the explosive device.
According to security source the suspect was arrested. Meanwhile, the investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident and those involved.
The source called on the citizens to report the presence of any strange or suspicious objects to the security forces.
