A source in the Supreme Revolutionary Committee stressed that the Commission is considering any position stating the futility of a military solution in Yemen and the need for a cease-fire.
Yemen’s official news agency SABA quoted the source as saying, "We highly look at any position or statement that will lead to convictions about the futility of a military solution in Yemen and the need for a cease-fire and that the solution can only be political reiterating the deputy spokesman for German Foreign ministry’s recent statement."
The source also shed light on the large number of statements issued by the United Nations Secretary-General and some countries on the need for a political solution in Yemen, adding that the United States’ disregard to these statements has directly caused the humanitarian situation in the war-torn country to reach level four, warning of famine.
The source cautioned that "the US’s insistence on the continuation of the aggression and siege and the granting of successive deadlines for its instruments in the region and logistic support in all shapes will only lead to more death and destruction as well as targeting of civilians."
The source indicated that the US is trying to change the political equation in Yemen with excessive force, in light of the continued international silence and the absence of real and binding positions to implement the agreements and solve the problems that have been used as a pretext to launch the aggression and siege by political means.
Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
About 8,300 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
