Thousands of Yemenis in Hodeidah province took to the streets Friday to demonstrate against the Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen.
Participants raised their country’s flag as well as banners condemning the Saudi aggression and American policy in the region. They also chanted slogans against the war on Yemen and denounced the threats recently made by the Saudi coalition to bomb the port of Hodeida.
The demonstrators condemned the blockade imposed on the Hodeidah port for months and called on the withdrawal of war ships from the docks. They also expressed their anger at the continued aggression and heinous crimes against the oppressed Yemeni people in the various provinces.
The protesters also declared full public readiness to confront any aggressor and invader that try to disrupt the security of the province and its port.
The Yemenis held the international community and the United Nations, its Secretary General and his envoy to Yemen responsible for the Saudi-led aggression on Hodeidah.
The port of Hodeida is a commercial port and not a military one. It serves 25 million Yemenis and is considered the only doorway for UN food supplies and relief goods after the bombing of the port of Mokha.
Yemen has been under military attacks by Saudi Arabia since March 26. The Saudi military strikes were launched with the aim of undermining Ansarullah and bringing fugitive former president of Yemen, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, back to power.
More than 8,300 people have been killed and over 16,000 others injured since the Saudi aerial aggression began. The Saudi war has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
