Head of Middle East and North Africa Division of Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Wolfgang Bruelhart met with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussing the latest developments in the region particularly in Syria and Yemen.

During the meeting, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the need to stop the war and deploy humanitarian aids to Yemen stating that "the Islamic Republic of Iran encourages the notion of all-inclusive national discourse in Yemen."

Yemen has been under military attacks by Saudi Arabia since March 26. The Saudi military strikes were launched with the aim of undermining Ansarullah and bringing fugitive former president of Yemen, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, back to power.

More than 8,300 people have been killed and over 16,000 others injured since the Saudi aerial aggression began. The Saudi war has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
