The Yemeni army and popular committees forces cleared Bait Wafi area of the aggression hirelings in Jabal Habashi district of Taiz province, a military official said Saturday.
The official confirmed the killing of a large number of Saudi forces during the operation, pointing out that the mercenaries fled the areas leaving 13 bodies.
A unit of the army and committees also burned an armored vehicle belonging to the mercenaries near al-Barkani station in Karish area of Taiz province.
Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
About 8,300 people have been killed and over 16,000 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
