Iran’s deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, said on Thursday that a military approach toward the Yemeni crisis has been from the very beginning condemned by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The comments were made in telephone conversation with the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

The Iranian diplomat also thanked the UN and the endeavors of Ahmed for trying to solve the conflict, describing Ahmed’s role constructive.

Tehran will preserve its measures to encourage Yemeni-Yemeni dialogues, reasserted the Iranian deputy foreign minister while urging ceasefire.

He noted that it would be a positive step to halt Saudi bombardments from the beginning of the talks in Geneva and necessitated that attacks and humanitarian siege should be ended.

The UN envoy for his part voiced hope for stop of Saudi strikes and start of peace talks in Geneva.
