Fierce clashes renewed on Tuesday between Islah party militias and militants belonging to the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Abyan province, sources told Yemen Press Agency.
The sources said that Islah militiamen launched wide-scale attacks on Zunjbar city and bombarded the same city with artillery and heavy machine guns.
The escalation comes hours after the announcement of a comprehensive cease-fire, welcoming the parties' acceptance of the initiative.
