Yemeni Army Enters Saudi Military Bases in Asir

The Yemeni army, backed by the popular committees, has managed to enter Saudi military bases in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern region of Asir on Friday.
Video footage released by Yemen’s al-Masirah television network on Friday showed Yemeni forces advancing into Saudi military bases in the region, destroying the vehicles and equipment of the Saudi army.
The Saudi soldiers, who could not resist the Yemeni move, fled the area, reports said.
The development was part of Yemen’s retaliatory measures against Saudi Arabia over the kingdom’s unabated military aggression against the impoverished country.
Earlier in the day, Saudi Arabia’s aerial aggression claimed the lives of 18 civilians from two Yemeni families in Sa’ada Province in the northwest of the war-ravaged country.
Since March 26, a Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States has been carrying out a military aggression on Yemen by launching airstrikes against the country. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the United Nations [UN].
The US-led Saudi aggression began in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to the country’s fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Saudi Arabia.
As a result, the Yemeni army backed by popular committees and tribal fighters has been responding to the aggression by targeting several Saudi border military posts and cleansing several areas across the country from Hadi and al-Qaeda-linked militias.
