Abdulsalam: We Will Spare No Effort To Ensure Consultations Are Successful

The head of Yemen’s National Delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, said Tuesday night that the delegation “will spare no effort to ensure the consultations [in Sweden] are successful, bring about peace, end the [Saudi-led] war and lift the blockade [of Yemen].”

In a Twitter post late on Tuesday night, Abdulsalamb also called on the Yemeni army, the security forces and the Popular Committees to be vigilant against any escalation by the US-backed Saudi-led aggression, warning that the coalition has escalated their military operations.

The national delegation left the capital Sana'a for Sweden on Tuesday, accompanied by the United Nations' special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, to take part in expected peace talks aimed at ending the nearly four-year-long conflict.

A previous attempt by Griffiths to hold UN-sponsored talks in Geneva collapsed in September when the Houthis were not guaranteed safe return to Sana’a by the UN.

Meanwhile, the Saudi-backed resigned regime’s delegation is expected to arrive in Sweden on Wednesday, according to a source affiliated with the Hadi regime.

The source added that negotiations are expected to start on Thursday.

The Hadi delegation will be led by Khaled al-Yamani.
