At least 20 militants loyal to the regime in Saudi Arabia have reportedly been killed in a Saudi airstrike against Yemen on Saturday.

The Saudi airstrike during the late hours of Saturday targeted an area along a coastal road heading toward the southern embattled city of Zinjibar, Yemeni security officials said according to the Associated Press on Sunday.

Also on Saturday, at least 70 Saudi-backed militants were killed in an operation by the Yemeni army backed by popular committees on their hideouts in Yemen’s southern province of Abyan.

On the same day, three soldiers from the United Arab Emirates [UAE] were killed while taking part in the Saudi-led military aggression on Yemen, according to UAE state news agency WAM on Saturday.

Saudi Arabia and a coalition of some Arab states backed by the United States have been carrying out deadly airstrikes in Yemen since March. The airstrikes have not been authorized by the UN.

The US-led Saudi military aggression against Yemen began on March 26 - without a UN mandate - in a bid to restore power to the country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Saudi Arabia, and to undermine Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement which is currently responding to the attacks on the country.
