The Yemeni army and popular forces on Saturday carried out an attack on Saudi-paid mercenary positions in Maqbana district of Taiz province, a military official told the state-run news agency Saba.
A number of mercenaries were killed and others wounded during the attack that targeted their locations in al-Dar al-Abyadh in Himiar area of the district, the official said.
Saudi Arabia has been leading a destructive military campaign against Yemen since March 2015 to reinstate former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and crush the Houthi movement.
The campaign has seriously damaged the country’s infrastructure. Local Yemeni sources have put the death toll from the Saudi war at over 13,000, including many women and children.
