The Word Health Organization (WHO) announced Sunday that the total number of suspected cholera cases in Yemen has reached 602,526 suspected.
On its twitter account, WHO added that 2,043 deaths have been reported in the war-torn country since 27 April 2017.
International and local organizations are providing aid for Yemenis living in dire humanitarian conditions as a result of the two-and-a-half-year-old Saudi aggression amidst a spread in cholera.
Cholera is a disease that causes severe diarrhea that can kill a patient within hours if he does not receive treatment. Malnourished children under 5 years of age are at greater risk of infection.
The United Nations says about 15 million people do not have access to adequate health care because war has forced health centers to close.
Yemen has been under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition since March 26, 2015.
Thousands have been killed and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them are civilians. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
Riyadh launched the offensive on Yemen in a bid to allegedly restore power to fugitive president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
