The Pentagon has confirmed that an American soldier is missing following a helicopter crash off the Yemeni coast.
US officials say Staff Sgt. Emil Rivera-Lopez went missing after a Black Hawk helicopter crashed on August 25.
U.S. Central Command said in a statement that five other service members aboard the aircraft had been rescued after the crash, which took place about 3o kilometers off the southern coast of Yemen.
There have been a number of aviation mishaps involving U.S military aircraft in the past few months.
