Yemen’s Oil and Mineral Ministry denounces looting of country’s oil resources by Saudi Arabia, calling it a violation of international law
People have in recent days taken to the streets of different Yemeni cities to vent their outrage at Saudi Arabia that has waged a multiple-year deadly war on the country and caused one of the worst humanitarian crises of modern history there.
The advocacy group Human Rights Watch (HRW) is hopeful the US Congress will eventually ban arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as unlawful attacks against civilians in Yemen have persisted since they last considered such a measure, Human Rights Watch Deputy Director said.
UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) have vaccinated more than 306,000 people in Yemen against cholera, including over 164,000 children under the age of 15, UNICEF announced.
The United Nations has warned that four million Yemenis would face “pre-hunger” if the country’s crisis persists, in addition to the eight million already suffering from severe hunger.
Global education advocacy bodies have called for teachers in war-torn Yemen to be paid, to safeguard the crumbling education system in the country.
