The US-backed Saudi fighter jets launched a series of strikes on several districts of Saada province, a local official told the state-run news agency Saba on Saturday.

The fighter jets hit Mathab area of Al Safra district twice and Shada district five times, as well as waged four raids on Al Dhaher district, the official added.

In Taiz, a woman was killed and a child wounded by an artillery shelling of Saudi-paid mercenaries on Mokha district.

The shelling hit Al Nawbah village in the district, causing damage to houses.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
