The spokesman of Yemen’s Armed Forces, Brigadier General Sharaf Ghaleb Luqman, denied reports that the Saudi-led coalition’s forces had taken control of Wadi al-Zeyiq, al-Mukhadarah and Mount Martad in Marib’s Sirwah.

Luqman explained that the Yemeni soldiers backed by the popular committees carried out special operations to restore the sites that had been under enemy control. The retaliatory attack inflicted heavy loss on enemy.

The spokesperson added that future attempts by enemy troops to advance into Yemeni soil will be thwarted on all fronts, adding that the allied forces are showing more steadfastness and will achieve victory.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
