Resigned Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi ousted three conservative governors loyal to the Southern movement backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a series of decisions he issued from his place of residence in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.
Hadi on Wednesday appointed new governors for Shabwa, Hadramout and Socotra. Faraj Salemin al-Bahssani was appointed as governor of Hadramout, replacing Ahmed Said Ben Brik, while al-Bahssani retained the command of the second military zone in Sayoun city based in the capital of Hadramout Valley.
The order also assigned Ali bin Rashid al-Harthi, governor of Shabwa, replacing Ahmed Lamels, while Ahmed Abdullah Ali al-Soctori was appointed governor of Socotra, replacing Salam al-Soctori.
The resigned head of state also assigned Saleh Qaid Al-Zindani as Deputy Chief of General Staff, and Nasser Abdullah Nasser Rweis as Head of the Operations Authority of the Armed Forces.
Observers believe that the decisions mean a new escalation in the political crisis between the southern movement supported by the UAE and the regime of Hadi, backed by Saudi Arabia, where the southern provinces are witnessing a major public discontent and anger against the Hadi government.
