Yemen’s Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf met with United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sana’a, Jamie McGoldrick.

During the meeting, Sharaf delivered three messages to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

The messages emphasized the sovereign right of the Republic of Yemen to defend itself and preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its territories.

Sharaf also stressed that Yemen extends the hand of peace.

Saudi Arabia has been engaged in a deadly campaign against Yemen since March 2015 in an attempt to reinstall the former Yemeni government.

The offensive has claimed 12,000 lives and left 19,343 others wounded, according to figures compiled by the Legal Center for Rights and Development, a Yemeni non-governmental monitoring group.
