The artillery of the Yemeni army and popular forces hit gatherings of Saudi soldiers in Asir, Najran, and Jizan provinces, a military official told the state-run news agency Saba on Wednesday.

The shelling hit the gatherings in Al-Dhabah military site in Asir.

Meanwhile, the national forces killed Saudi soldiers in al Nashmah military sites of Al Rabu'eh area.

Moreover, the artillery of the allied forces shelled other groups in military sites west of Al Makhrawqa and behind Al Sudis and Raqabat Al Hamer in Najran, the official added.

The army also launched retaliatory attacks in Al Moanaqa and Malhamah military sites in Jizan, killing and wounding a number of soldiers, the official added.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.

Yemeni forces have been engaged in retaliatory attacks against the Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside Saudi Arabia.
