Heavy airstrikes by the Saudi led coalition ripped through the Yemeni capital Sana’a throughout Monday night. The strikes mainly focused on the Presidential Palace and the surrounding area, of which the coalition had claimed to have gained control a few days ago.

The series of more than 6 consecutive bombardments conducted by Saudi Arabia’s Airforce lasted for several hours.

Apart from the Presidential Palace, Saudi-led coalition fighter jets also targeted Al Nahdeen Mountain which is adjacent to the building complex. The area located in the capital’s southern neighborhoods is a frequent target of Saudi air raids.

Saudi Arabia has been leading a destructive military campaign against Yemen since March 2015 to reinstate former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi and crush the Houthi movement.

The campaign has seriously damaged the country’s infrastructure. Local Yemeni sources have put the death toll from the Saudi war at over 12,000, including many women and children.
