The US-backed Saudi fighter jets continued launching airstrikes on private properties in several Yemeni provinces over the past hours, killing and injuring a number of people including women and children, a military official told the state-run news agency Saba on Tuesday.

A civilian was killed by Saudi soldiers' fire in Al Mashnaq area of Saada province. For their part, coalition warplanes hit Al Sabhan area of Baqim district twice, and Saudi artillery and missile shelling hit farms in Shada district.

Meanwhile, a child was killed and four people including two women were wounded in mercenaries' artillery shelling on houses in Harib Al Qaramish district of Marib province.

The Saudi jets also waged five strikes on northern Mokha district of Taiz province, using cluster bombs, and launched two raids on Muashaj area in Khukhah district of Hodeida province.

Saudi Arabia began its deadly campaign against Yemen in late March 2015. The strikes were meant to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

About 12,000 people have been killed and over 19,343 injured since Riyadh launched the airstrikes. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s facilities and infrastructure.
